How Apotela calculates readings
From birth details to an explanation
Apotela performs its core calculations on your device. It first builds the chart from time and location, then applies traditional astrology relationships and a structured interpretation catalogue. It does not ask an online service to invent a reading.
1. Your birth moment is standardized
Apotela combines the date, time, and historical UTC offset for your selected city. This converts local birth time into one consistent moment that the astronomy calculations can use.
2. Your location sets the viewpoint
The selected city supplies latitude and longitude. Together with the birth moment, these coordinates are used to calculate the rising sign. Apotela then places planets into whole-sign houses.
3. Planet positions create the chart
The app calculates the zodiac longitude of the Sun, Moon, and planets for that moment. Each position becomes a sign and degree, while the exact birth time determines the rising sign and houses.
4. Angles reveal aspects
Apotela compares the distance between planets and identifies the major aspects: conjunction, sextile, square, trine, and opposition. The orb tells you how close the angle is to exact; a smaller orb generally receives more emphasis.
5. Forecasts compare then and now
For each forecast date, Apotela calculates the current planet positions and compares them with your birth chart. It considers which aspects are active, how close they are, and which life areas they emphasize.
6. Match compares two charts
Relationship readings compare close major aspects between two birth charts. The app groups those connections into areas such as communication, emotions, attraction, values, and long-term rhythm, with tighter aspects carrying more weight.
What happens when birth time is unknown?
The date can still provide useful planet and sign positions, but the rising sign and houses change throughout the day. Apotela removes those time-dependent details from Chart, Forecast, and Match rather than treating an estimated time as certain.
How the words and scores are chosen
Explanations: Apotela connects each planet, sign, house, and aspect with a curated set of plain-language meanings and practical suggestions.
Forecast activity: stronger and closer personal transits receive more emphasis. A high activity score means more is astrologically active, not that the day is automatically good or bad.
Favorability: supportive and challenging aspects are balanced within the selected life area. It describes the tone of the timing, not the likelihood of a particular event.
Relationship scores: close connections between two charts are grouped and weighted. The result is a summary for comparison—not a scientific measurement or judgment about either person.
Important context
Astrology is interpretive. Apotela describes symbolic themes and possible patterns; it does not guarantee events, establish facts about a person, or replace professional advice and your own judgment.
